Montana Mountain Horse not only a new Breed but also a new Montana Brand!

Our horse-breeding farm, Montana Mountain Horse, is located on a 40 acre ranch about 5 miles north of Kalispell, Montana.  The ranch is comprised of a custom built 20,000 square foot indoor arena and storey (might have used that right, might not have).  Inside the facility are housed three Canadian stallions and three Foxtroller mares.  This is the foundation stock on the road to development of the MONTANA MOUNTAIN HORSE.  Ultimately what we’re after at our facility is an improved mountain horse.

Currently there are 3 stallions standing at stud, each processing slightly different qualities.  They represent 3 of the existing 8 Canadian Horse breed bloodlines.  All of the mares, however, are from the same Zane Grey Missouri Foxtrotter bloodline chosen because it has proven to be one of the bloodlines with the most natural

foxtrot gate.

Standing at Stud:

Beckett’s Creek Sam Esso (aka Esso) is a 9 year old purebred Canadian stallion.  He is the lead stallion in our breeding program.  Esso was selected of his background traits of near perfect conformation, bone density and larger foot platform.  His movement is well coordinated with good suspension.

The primary objective of this cross is to bring together the superior athletic qualities of the Canadian Horse and the smooth ride of the Foxtrotter.

If one of the desired traits are missing with the cross breeding, we’ll breed the offspring with more Canadian or Foxtroller to supply the desired results.

EMERGING BREED – MONTANA MOUNTAIN HORSE

Carrie’s Timely Duke foaled May 5, 2003 from a purebred Missouri Foxtrot mare, Virginia Rose and a Canadian stallion, Jac-Lar Andy Duke.  Duke is registered (D118 registered 11/3/03) with the Crossbreed Canadian Horse Registry, LTD.  Duke is the oldest of the Montana Mountain Horse colts that we are raising.  The athletic ability and the overall stronger body build of his father seems to have crossed well with the more feminine features of rhythm and gait from his mother. Veterinary reports indicate he is doing quite well. Look here for updates, pictures and video of this exciting new edition to our family!
